Restoring colour vibrancy and shine
Over time, silk can lose its natural shine and rich colour due to detergent residue or mineral buildup from hard water. A simple white vinegar rinse can restore the vibrancy of your silk, bringing back its beautiful luster.
To prepare the rinse fill a basin or sink with cool water.
Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar per litre (about 4 cups) of water. Stir gently to ensure it’s well-mixed.
To rinse the silk place your silk item in the solution, swishing it gently and keeping it submerged for 3–5 minutes. Always avoid scrubbing, wringing, or twisting the fabric, as silk is delicate.
Rinse with Clean Water (Optional):
If you notice a slight vinegar smell, follow up with a quick, cool water rinse to remove any lingering scent. This step is optional, as any vinegar odor will fade as the silk dries.
If you are using the vinegar rinse primarily to enhance colour vibrancy and shine, you can skip an additional wash.
This simple process will help preserve and renew the natural sheen and richness of your Silk Works.
